Instrumentation

Each UCNRS climate station is instrumented to measure standard climatological variables including:

• air temperature at 2 meters and 10 meters above the ground,
• relative humdity at 2 meters above the ground,
• wind speed and wind direction at 10 meters above the ground,
• precipitation (stations at Chickering and SNARL are equipped to measure frozen and liquid precipitation,
• barometric pressure,
• incoming solar radiation (visible and photosynthetic spectrum),
• soil temperature at 2,4,8, and 20 inches,
• soil moisture at 2 inches.
